From humble beginnings in 1953, Holyoake has grown to be one of the most respected names in the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) industry. Noel Holyoake started as an electrical contractor in Wellington, New Zealand and purchased a small firm selling domestic oil-fired central heating plants.
In 1973, recognising the forthcoming oil crisis, the company sold its oil heating division and renamed to become Holyoake Industries Ltd and concentrated on the air distribution equipment market.
Their commitment to the HVAC industry, combined with an innovative approach to design and laboratory testing has gained the respect of architects, engineers, builders and contractors both in Australia and New Zealand. Accordingly, they are now the largest manufacturer of air distribution equipment in the Asia Pacific region, offering the most comprehensive and diverse range of air diffusion equipment available. The company’s expansion into Victoria commenced in 1998 with the purchase of the Oates Air Conditioning Equipment business from a long term client of Saward Dawson.
The group’s approach to excellence in design and client service has been rewarded by continuous ISO accreditation since 1993. It has seen Holyoake significantly expand their market share in Victoria and more recently in New South Wales. The company’s workforce has almost doubled in size since 1998 to keep pace with this growth. Staff welfare takes a high priority and with programs in place to train, develop and promote employees, Holyoake are very proud of the staff that have been with them for many years.
“At each of the Holyoake facilities is an amalgam of years of manufacturing and sales experience,” says director Jamie Brown, “together with accredited air conditioning engineers to ensure customers and clients receive sound and reliable advice on how best to use the vast range of Holyoake products. The laboratory research and testing facility incorporated into each Holyoake plant enables us to produce air management solutions for some of the more difficult and sensitive industry projects.”
Part of Holyoake’s commitment to quality is identifying business partners who can consistently provide the same level of client service and professionalism that they seek to deliver to their clients. Saward Dawson has had a long history with the Holyoake business assisting the previous owner through the 1980’s and 1990’s with a full range of business consulting services including management accounting, business planning and cashflow forecasting. Saward Dawson was invited to continue its involvement following the acquisition by Holyoake through an ongoing audit and compliance role within the growing business.
With founder and chairman Noel Holyoake still at the helm and with a second generation in Scott and Grant Holyoake on the board, the company seems assured to continue its success. We look forward to contributing to that success as a quality business partner.
