Special edition: Budget 2012
The Federal Budget delivered by Treasurer Wayne Swan on Tuesday night
contained several announcements that, whilst not necessarily unexpected,
will impact the NFP sector significantly in the coming years.
Commitment to the National Disability
Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
The Government agreed to establish the NDIS arising from the
Productivity Commission report. It represents a fundamental change to
the way people with disabilities will have access to funding and
services provided by the Government.
Taxation for NFPs - Full steam ahead!
The reforms will continue to push ahead in during the 2013 year. All
charities will be affected by these reforms and it is critical to have
your organisationís tax affairs reviewed by Saward Dawson to ensure they
are in order.
Foreign Aid cut
The Government previously committed to increasing foreign aid to reach
0.5 percent of Gross National Income by 2015-16. This target achievement
has been delayed by a year, which decreases the foreign aid budget by
$2.9 billion over the next four years.
This decision will impact organisations providing foreign aid and may
require reassessment of program goals and budgets over the coming years.
